Research in the lab focuses on pushing the limits of structural techniques to reveal structure and movement in large dynamic protein complexes. Major research themes include:

  • Site specific labeling of proteins to probe structure and dynamics using techniques including Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Fluorescence Spectroscopy
  • Tracking the structural gymnastics of the CLIC ion channel proteins
  • Probing structure and dynamics in Troponin  the ON switch for muscle contraction
  • Development of nanodiamonds as biological probes to track single molecules
  • Promoting the undergraduate research experience for Biomolecular Major students by participating in the iGEM synthetic biology competition
